Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,365 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On October 11 at Macon State Prison, an unknown subject was seen near the maintenance shop. A search of the area was conducted where a package wrapped in electrical tape was found. A man was seen running from the facility’s wooded area and fled in a vehicle.  Local police stopped him, and Khalil Wagner was arrested and taken to the Oglethorpe County jail.

On October 9 at Baldwin State Prison, a search of Officer Kierra Williams found large bundles of paper containing a foreign substance in the pockets of her uniform pants. Officer Williams was arrested and taken to the Baldwin County Jail.

On October 8 at Johnson State prison, Johnson County Police Department stopped a vehicle near the facility. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a bottle with an unknown substance was recovered. Civilians Kristen Ussery and Adrian Toliber were arrested and transported to Johnson County Jail.

On October 6 at Central State Prison, Officer Emily Orozco was observed handing an unidentified object to an offender. A search of the offender found contraband  which consisted of tobacco. Officer Orozco was arrested and taken to Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

On October 6 at Dooly State Prison, civilian Quintin Byrd was spotted coming out of the facility’s woods. He had a bag containing contraband. Quintin Byrd was arrested by the Dooly County Sheriff's Office and transported to Dooly County Jail.
