Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 639 CIVILIANS AND 122 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
1) On September 5, 2013 at Washington State Prison, the Davisboro Police Department observed Crystal Davis at corner store near the facility. Civilian Davis was questioned by the police and officers found 12 empty cell phones containers in the rear seat of her vehicle. Civilian Davis admitted that there was a passenger in her vehicle, who had the intent to throw these cell phones over the facility fence. Later that morning, a black male identified as Eddie Walker returned to civilian Davisâ€™ vehicle and was detained. A total of 16 cell phones were recovered. Both Davis and Walker were arrested by the Davisboro Police Department.
2) On September 6, 2013 at Smith State Prison, a Lieutenant escorted Officer Christopher Brooks to the front bunker. After consenting to a search, Officer Brooks was found to be in possession of a pack of cigarettes. While searching Officer Brooksâ€™ vehicle, a K9 officer found a letter with pertinent information regarding personal dealings as well as three lighters and one cell phone. After reviewing the information on the cell phone, officers found additional information pertinent to the officer bringing in contraband. Officer Brooks admitted to bringing in cigarettes into the facility for six months and stated he had received $500. Officer Brooks was arrested by the Glennville Police Department.
