Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
**MORE THAN 595 CIVILIANS AND 113 STAFF MEMBERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED TO DATE FOR ATTEMPTING TO INTRODUCE CONTRABAND INTO GDC FACILITIES.**
1) On May 18, 2013 Washington State Prison Officer Sharon Cooper failed to clear the front entrance metal detector. Officer Cooper was searched and was found to have the following items on her person: two smart phones and three batteries. In addition, she had four containers of Vodka, two pairs of sunglasses, five cooked steaks with bread and ten packs of candy in a bag. Officer Cooper admitted to receiving one thousand on a green dot card to bring in the contraband. Officer Cooper was arrested by the Washington County Sheriffâ€™s Office.
2) On May 18, 2013, K-9 unit officer conducted a vehicle search at Johnson State Prison. During the search, the dog alerted the officer to a black Durango. Upon searching the vehicle, a black bag containing 11.5 grams of marijuana, five packs of rolling papers and a glass pipe were found. The owner of the vehicle was Billie Urban, mother of an inmate at Johnson SP. Visitor Billie Urban was arrested by the Johnson County Sheriffâ€™s Office.
