Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
1) On March 6, 2012, while conducting surveillance on prison grounds Canine Sergeant and an Investigator observed a vehicle stop in front of the nursey entrance and saw a white male exit the vehicle. Civilians Viviene Hopkins and Jackie Key were arrested after a trash bag containing 7 pound bags of smoking pipe tobacco and 30 packs of rolling papers. The contraband was intended for two inmates at Rogers State Prison.
2) On March 10, 2012, officers confiscated two large bundles of tobacco from a visitor's car during a routine narcotics search at Coffee County CCA Private Prison. The owner of the vehicle, Alisha Lanetta Ross, came to the facility to visit two inmates. She was attempting to bring the inmates, 22 small bags containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine and tobacco. Visitor Ross was arrested by the Coffee County Sheriff's Department.
3) On March 11, 2012, a Georgia State Prison Lieutenant observed an inmate reaching into the boot of his visitor, Kai Cora during visitation. Visitor Cora was removed from visitation and 18 ecstasy pills were found in her possession. Visitor Cora was arrested by the Tattnall County Sheriff's Department.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
