Contraband Arrests at GDC Facilities
1- On Sunday, April 10, 2011, Sylvian Roberson and Sabrina Murphy were arrested at Rogers State Prison in Reidsville. The Tattnall County Sheriff's Office arrived after receiving a call about suspicious activity near the prison. Roberson was driving and her vehicle was stopped and searched. Authorities found a large bag with several packages of tobacco.
2- On Friday, April 15, 2011, Demetrick Hodges was arrested at Valdosta State Prison in Valdosta. He was seen running through the woods of the prison and later apprehended by the Lowndes County Sheriff's Department. In his possession, Hodges had cell phones and chargers, knives, bags of tobacco, packs of rolling paper, marijuana, nicotine pills and patches and small bottles of liquor.
3- Smith State Prison, Glennville:
*James Hall was arrested at facility when he came to visit an inmate. Upon arrival, dogs were alerted to Hall's vehicle. While being questioned, officers noticed a green leafy substance in his mouth and smelled marijuana. Hall spit the bag out and it was confiscated by the Glennville Police Department.
*Kathy Wade was arrested at the facility when she came to visit an inmate. Upon arrival, dogs were alerted to Wade's vehicle and authorities found marijuana. The Glennville Police Department assisted.
*Frances Johnson was arrested at the facility when she came to visit an inmate. Upon arrival, Johnson's vehicle was searched and officers found drug paraphernalia and marijuana. She also gave officer's marijuana that was in her bra. The Glennville Police Department assisted.
The Department of Corrections is committed to identifying and pursuing prosecution of those persons who attempt to introduce contraband into state facilities.
