New Warden Named Autry State Prison - Marty Allen Assigned

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announces the assignment of Marty Allen as Warden of Autry State Prison effective August 1, 2012. Allen will be responsible for overseeing 289 staff members and 1,686 male inmates at the medium-security facility located in Pelham.

"Wardens play an integral role in the security and rehabilitation of offenders," said Commissioner Owens. "I am happy to have someone with Warden Allen’s experience leading our team at Autry State Prison."

Warden Allen joined the Department in 1992 as a Correctional Officer at Autry State Prison. He has served in several capacities including Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Internal Affairs Investigator, Superintendent and Deputy Warden of Security. He most recently served as Warden at Dodge State Prison.

The GDC is the fourth largest prison system in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 150,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
