FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announces the promotion of Allen Dills to Deputy Warden of Administration at Phillips State Prison effective August 16, 2012. As Deputy Warden, he will be responsible for overseeing the Business Office, Property/Supply Operations, Maintenance and Food Service departments at the facility housing 863 male inmates located in Buford.
"Deputy Warden Dills has been committed to carrying out the Department’s mission since 2002," said Owens. "I look forward to his leadership at Phillips State Prison."
Dills joined the Department in 2002 as an Account Paraprofessional at Lee Arrendale State Prison. He was promoted to Personnel Manager at 2009, where he most recently served. He is enrolled at Thomas University and is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree. Dills completed the department’s Basic Management Training, Professional Management and Advanced Management Training courses. Dills also received the Department’s Customer Service Spirit Award in 2011.
The GDC is the fourth largest prison system in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 150,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
