New Warden Named at Emanuel Women’s Facility - Angela Grant Appointed Warden

Forsyth - Commissioner Brian Owens announced the appointment of Angela Grant as Warden of Emanuel Women’s Facility effective April 16, 2012. The facility is located in Swainsboro, Georgia. As Warden, Grant will be responsible for overseeing 55 staff members and 560 minimum and medium security female inmates at Emanuel Women’s Facility.

“Angela has served the Department in many facets over the past 14 years and has surpassed all expectations,” said Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens. “She truly is a great asset to the department and we look forward to her leadership at Emanuel Women’s Facility,” added Owens.

During the course of the National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, these agencies will collaboratively pay their respect to crime victims throughout the state of Georgia.

Grant holds a Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communications from Fort Valley State University. Grant is a Post Certified Instructor with the Georgia Department of Corrections and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. She is a member of the American Correctional Association, The National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice and the Licensed Professional Counselors Association of Georgia.

The Department of Corrections is the fourth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 150,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
