Forsyth - Commissioner Brian Owens announced the appointment of Marcia McIntyre as Field Operations Manager of the Northeast Region effective January 16, 2012. As Probation Field Operations Manager, McIntyre will oversee all probation operations and will act as the Appointing Authority for Chief Probation Officers, Probation Officers and staff in twelve judicial circuits in the Northeastern area of the state.
"Marcia is an exceptional leader and dedicated employee," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "The Northeastern judicial circuits will benefit greatly from her wealth of knowledge," added Owens.
McIntyre began her career with the Department of Corrections 24 years ago as a Probation Officer in the Cumming Probation Office. In 1993, she was promoted to Probation Officer III in the Piedmont Circuit and was transferred to the Northeastern Judicial Circuit in 1995. In January 2000, she assumed the position of Probation Training Unit Manager at the Northeastern Judicial Circuit. In September 2006, McIntyre was named North Georgia Corrections Academy Director. She was then promoted in April 2008 to Chief Probation Officer of the Bell-Forsyth Judicial Circuit. In November 2009, McIntyre returned to the Northeastern Judicial Circuit where she most recently served as Chief Probation Officer. McIntyre graduated from the University of West Georgia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and received her Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College at Columbus State University. McIntyre is a Georgia POST certified Senior Instructor, Firearms Instructor and Defensive Tactics Instructor
The Department of Corrections is the fourth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 150,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 13,000 employees.
