New Deputy Director of Audits & Compliance Named

Ahmed Holt Appointed

Forsyth - Commissioner Brian Owens announced the appointment of Ahmed Holt as Deputy Director of Audits & Compliance effective October 16, 2011.  As Deputy Director, Holt will assist the Director of Audits & Compliance by overseeing and evaluating the operations of facilities and field offices for the Department. 

“Ahmed is a professional who has exhibited excellent leadership qualities throughout his career with the Department,” said Commissioner Brian Owens.  “His wealth of knowledge will serve him well in this position,” added Owens.

Holt began his career with the Department of Corrections as a Probation Officer in 2001 working in several circuits with various roles ranging from Court Services to a Specialized Supervision Officer.  In 2005, he was promoted to Probation Officer III and was assigned as Manager of the Sex Offender Administration Unit in 2006.  Holt accepted the role of Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment at Rutledge State Prison in 2010 and held this position until his promotion to Deputy Director of Audits & Compliance at State Offices South at Tift College in 2011.  Holt graduated from Savannah State University with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and graduated from Columbus State University’s Command College with a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. 

The Department of Corrections is the fifth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 150,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 13,000 employees.
