Probation Reporting Contact Center Receives Award

AtlantaThe Georgia Department of Corrections is pleased to announce Probation Operations was recognized by Governor Sonny Perdue on October 12, 2010 at the Fourth Annual Governor’s Customer Service Awards Ceremony.  The Probation Reporting Contact Center (PRCC) received an award for Outstanding Process Improvement.  The award was given to a division or program within the state that designed and implemented a planned improvement or initiative that has resulted in a significant positive impact on their customers over the last year.

“It is an honor for the Department to receive this type of recognition,” said Commissioner Owens.  “The Probation Reporting Contact Center has done an outstanding job.”

The Probation Reporting Contact Center is an automated probation supervision system for managing low risk probationers.  The mission of the PRCC is to most efficiently monitor the lowest risk probation population while “freeing-up” officer resources to most effectively manage higher risk offenders and provide incentive for probation behavioral compliance.  These probationers are able to call the PRCC to complete monthly supervision requirements through the programmed prompt-driven system.  While the system monitors reporting functions and documents information in the GDC case management system automatically, probationers are able to speak live with a PRCC call-handler, who refers case management issues to the supervising probation officer
The PRCC currently serves nine probation circuits.

The Department of Corrections is the fifth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 150,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 13,000 employees.
