Atlanta –The Supreme Court of Georgia granted a stay of execution for inmate Brandon Rhode until Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. Jones County Superior Court ordered the Department to carry out the execution on a date between September 21 and September 28, 2010. Commissioner Brian Owens has set the date for September 24, 2010 at the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison in Jackson at 9:00 a.m.
Rhode was sentenced to death in 2000 for a triple murder. If executed, he will be the 25th inmate put to death by lethal injection in Georgia.
