Atlanta – The Department of Corrections announces the appointment of Joseph Baden as Warden of Calhoun State Prison effective July 1, 2010. In this position, he will oversee approximately 1,650 inmates and 290 staff members. This facility is located in Morgan, Georgia.
“Joseph Baden is a passionate and dedicated individual,” said Commissioner Owens. “His leadership capabilities will be a great asset to the facility,” Owens added.
Baden began his career with the Georgia Department of Corrections as a Probation Officer in 1986. He advanced through the ranks holding positions as Senior Mental Health Counselor, Chief Counselor, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. Prior to his new appointment, Baden was the Statewide Coordinator of Transitional Centers and Day Reporting Centers. He and his wife currently reside in Macon, Georgia.The Department of Corrections is the fifth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 13,000 employees.
