Atlanta– Commissioner Brian Owens announced the appointment of Jamie Apple Anderson as Day Reporting Center/Transitional Center Coordinator effective July 1, 2010. Anderson will oversee the Department’s 13 Day Reporting Centers and 15 Transitional Centers.
“Jamie has held numerous field and statewide management positions in Probation and Facility Operations,” said Commissioner Brian Owens. “She will bring a wealth of knowledge to her new position,” added Owens.
Anderson joined the Department in 1982 as a Correctional Officer. She has served as Probation Officer, Community Service Coordinator, Intensive Probation Officer, Center Probation Officer, Senior Counselor, Chief Counselor, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment, Statewide Manager of GDC Telemedicine System and Probation Field Services Manager. Anderson most recently served as Manager of Field Services under the Corrections Division.
Anderson has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Political Science from Emory University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration. She is also a graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College. Anderson also holds a Probation Officer, Correctional Officer, and Instructor Certification from the Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council.
The Department of Corrections is the fifth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 14,000 employees.####
