Atlanta– The Department of Corrections announces the appointment of Kathy Seabolt as Warden of Lee Arrendale State Prison effective July 1, 2010. The facility is located in Alto, Georgia.
“Warden Seabolt is a twenty-five year veteran with the Georgia Department of Corrections,” said Commissioner Brian Owens. “She is a dedicated leader and I am confident in her ability to run a safe and secure facility,” added Owens.
Ms. Seabolt, a native of Rabun County, began her employment with the Georgia Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer at Lee Arrendale State Prison in 1985. She has risen through the ranks and most recently served as Warden of Metro State Prison. At Lee Arrendale State Prison, she will oversee approximately 1,276 inmates and 354 staff members. Seabolt graduated magna cum laude from Piedmont College with a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and is a recent graduate of the Georgia Law Enforcement Command College having earned a Master of Public Administration degree. She is also a graduate of the Corrections Leadership Institute through the University of Georgia’s Carl Vinson Institute of Government and the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University.
The Department of Corrections is the fifth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 150,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 13,000 employees.
