Commissioner Appoints New Warden for Dodge
State Prison

Atlanta - Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Marty Allen as Warden of Dodge State Prison effective January 1, 2010. Dodge State Prison is located in Chester, Georgia, and houses approximately 1,220 medium security inmates.

“Allen joined the Department in 1992 and has worked through the ranks,” said Commissioner Owens. “He is a great asset to the Department and an exemplary role model.”

Warden Allen joined the Department of Corrections in 1992 as a Correctional Officer. He has served in several positions to include Correctional Sergeant, Correctional Lieutenant, Captain, Internal Affairs Investigator, Superintendent, and most currently as Deputy Warden of Security at Autry State Prison.

The Department of Corrections is the fourth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 14,000 employees.
