GDC Names Headquarters Employee of the Year

Atlanta – The Department of Corrections honored Celeste Jones as Headquarters Employee of the Year at the Fifth Annual GDC Awards program on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 on the historic Tift College Campus in Forsyth. 

“Celeste is a team player and an exemplary role model,” said Commissioner Brian Owens.  “She is deserving of this honor and we are proud to recognize her outstanding efforts.”

Jones works in the Department’s Offender Administration.  She skillfully carries out instructions from upper management to meet Department objectives.  Jones makes herself available to assist those in her office and officials from other state agencies.

The Department of Corrections is the fifth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and over 160,000 probationers.  It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 15,000 employees.
