Atlanta – Corrections Commissioner
James E. Donald announced the appointment
of Lisa Lance as the new Area 1 Field Operations
Manager. Lance, who previously served as
a Chief Probation Officer, will assume
her new appointment effective January 4,
2008.

who has shown her resourcefulness in working
with others,” said Commissioner James
E. Donald.
Lance began her career with the Georgia Department of Corrections in 1984 as a Probation Officer I. She has since served in the capacity of Probation Officer II, Community Service Coordinator, Intensive Probation Officer, Probation Officer III, and recently, the Chief Probation Officer in the Western Judicial Circuit. As the newly appointed Area1 Field Operations Manager, Lance will be responsible for the oversight of 26 Judicial Circuits in North and Central Georgia.
Lance earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Georgia and will graduate in May 2008 with her Master’s degree from Columbus State University. Lance also serves as a firearms instructor, POST instructor, serves on many advisory boards in her community and is the incoming President of the Chief Probation Officers Association. Lance currently resides in Athens, Georgia with her two children.
The Department of Corrections is the fifth largest prison system in the United States and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and 140,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 15,000 employees.
