MISSION:

Ensure public safety and effectively house offenders while operating a safe and secure facility. Also provide work and rehabilitation programs for general population inmates, operate a 252-bed inmate boot camp program and house the probation boot camp inmates. Provide inmate labor for the maintenance and operation of the Georgia Public Safety Training Center (GPSTC); provide support for the GDC Tift Campus. House offenders sentenced as adults between 13-17 years of age and At Risk Youth offenders between 17-21 years of age. Host facility for Lamar & West Central PRC's and West Georgia Boot Camp.

HOUSING:

Consist of four buildings that are subdivided into four housing units each. Each unit contains 50 double-bunked cells on two tiers.

WORK DETAILS

There are 19 details which go to the Georgia Public Safety training Center, then one each to the Georgia State Patrol, Forestry Commission, National Guard Armory, Department of Transportation, the fire Station and three details to the City of Forsyth and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

DIRECTIONS:

Take I-75 south for approximately 60 miles to Exit 188. Exit and turn right at the stop sign onto North Lee Street. Go .5 miles and turn left, cross over the railroad tracks onto the Georgia Public Safety Training Center access road. Turn left into the entrance for the Georgia Public Safety Training Center. Turn right at the first four-way stop. Burruss Correctional Training Center will be on the right.
