MISSION:

Ensure public safety and effectively house female offenders while operating a safe and secure facility. In addition: house female offenders that are medium and minimum security; and house Level II outpatient Mental Health offenders. Host facility for Emanuel Probation Detention Center

HOUSING:

Six (6) open dormitories that house forty-six (46) per dorm; one (1) open dorm that houses one hundred twenty-four (124); and ten (10) open dorms that house sixteen (16) per dorm. There are three (4) segregation/isolation cells that can hold seven (7) offenders.

  • Academic: General Education Diploma, Adult Basic Education, Literacy Remedial Education
  • Counseling: Motivation for Change, Moral Reconation Therapy, Matrix, Re-Entry, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Women's Focus Group with Emory University and the University of Georgia, Inside/Out with Georgia Southern University
  • Recreation: General Recreation
  • Religious Activities: Various Worship Services, Bible Study, Choir, Praise Dance Teams, Pastoral Counseling
  • Vocational/OJT:Cosmetology, Custodial Maintenance, Grounds Maintenance, Laundry, Small Appliance Repair, Building Maintenance Repairer, General Clerk, Food Preparation, Baker, Cook Apprentice, Car Detail, and Kitchen Helper

DIRECTIONS:

Take I-75S to Macon. Take I-16 to Swainsboro (Highway #1) Exit. Turn left onto Highway # 1 going north. Go approximately 15 miles to Swainsboro. On the Bypass around Swainsboro turn right at the first traffic (Highway #80). Go to the first traffic light and turn left onto Kite Highway. Go to the second cross road (Robin Road) and turn right. Go to the dead end and turn left onto Gumlog Road. Facility is approximately one half mile on the right.
