Georgia is a member of the Interstate Compact Offender Tracking System. The purpose of the compact is to promote public safety by systematically controlling the interstate movements of adult offenders under community supervision. All fifty states and three territories follow uniform procedures to transfer supervision of adult probationers and parolees from one state to another. At the end of 2012, approximately 3550 offenders convicted in other states were under probation supervision in Georgia while approximately 8580 offenders convicted in Georgia were under probation or parole supervision in other states.
