The Commissioner is responsible for the overall supervision of the agency.

The Assistant Commissioner, the three Division Directors, Executive Assistant, Board Liaison, Central Personnel Administration, Legislative Services, Planning, Victim Services, Public Affairs, Legal Office, Correctional Industries, Internal Affairs, and Special Investigations report to the Commissioner's Office.

The Assistant Commissioner oversees the daily operation of the agency.

The Personnel Director oversees, coordinates, monitors, evaluates, and administers human resources functions department-wide.

The Director of Public Affairs is the agency's contact point with the public and the media.

The Legislative Liaison supports the Board in legislative matters.

The Legal Office acts as the agency's internal counsel.

The Director of Correctional Industries oversees offender training and industries that supply various products for use both internal and external to the agency.

The Board Liaison provides assistance to the Georgia Board of Corrections.

The Office of Victim Services provides assistance to victims of crime.

The Office of Internal Affairs oversees criminal, fraud and other investigations within the department.

The Office of Special Investigations is responsible for investigating all claims of sexual harassment/misconduct in the department.
